All of the versions below are fine with Matt. Feel free to use any of them as needed.

Short version

Matt is a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford's Tech Impact and Policy Center and a computational social scientist studying how artificial intelligence is reshaping the way people find information and form beliefs online. His work has been featured in international journals such as PNAS and highlighted in major outlets, including AP News, MIT Technology Review, and The New York Times Magazine.

Medium version

Matt is a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford's Tech Impact and Policy Center, working with Dr. Jeffrey Hancock in the Social Media Lab. He has a PhD in Informatics from Indiana University, where he worked with Dr. Filippo Menczer at the Observatory on Social Media. Matt is a computational social scientist studying how artificial intelligence is reshaping the way people find information and form beliefs online. He combines large-scale data analysis, audits of AI systems, and experiments to understand how these technologies shape what we see, what we believe, and how we act—often in domains like public health and politics, where the stakes are highest. His current work focuses on AI-powered search, social media platforms, and conversational AI systems like chatbots, building on earlier research into information diffusion dynamics, superspreaders of low-credibility content, and large language model fact-checking. Matt's work has appeared in international journals such as PNAS and has been featured in prominent outlets, including AP News, MIT Technology Review, Time, and The New York Times Magazine.
